Growing Digitalisation is an Addiction: Development or Disaster?

Unsurprisingly, we all belong to a distracted generation where mobiles and smartphones are the most important part of livelihood. No one can imagine their life without smartphones and other gadgets. As an impact more and more people are excluding themselves from the actual world and are spending hours on social media and web chats.

The study says 22% of people use smartphones in the Loo, 84% take their phones to bed, 56% check their phones during meals and 60% people use their phone mostly for games and entertainment.

It is true that we all have a deep attachment with our smartphones but excess use of anything is not good. Excessive use of mobiles is diverting people from their work and making it more difficult for them to be dynamic because the first thing they do every morning is checking messages and updates.

People are becoming obsessed and the addiction of social media is serving like a drug. If they miss any update they act crazy because they want to be the first one to read, share and comment. And suppose they are not able to check it when they want; is like the pull of an addictive drug and the painful extractions of a druggie just after quitting it.

Social media addiction is at its greatest. Uploading photos, likes, and comments are distracting individuals from work and the real world. It happens to all, no sooner we get little time everyone we start checking our mobile leaving all work pending. Not only this, many relationships are also getting affected due to the excess use of mobile and other gadgets.

Smartphones are also dragging kids away from the actual world. Children at present don’t go to play outdoor games because they know they have a lot to play on mobiles. This game addiction on phones is affecting their growth and health. Earlier mother use to run behind their kid to make them take one bite but now kids finish up their meal fast as they want to get back watching their favourite cartoons on tablets and other gadgets as soon as they can. Even teenagers plug in their earphone and play games on mobile to avoid conflict from their parent on any sensitive issue like the result or talk about their future. Also after many traffic rule signs of not using mobiles while driving are not affecting people and there is an increase in the percentage of road accidents every year due to smartphones distraction. This addiction is directly or indirectly affecting all of us.

Few ways to deal with this addiction is:

  • Don’t touch mobiles and other gadgets unless it is not very much important especially when you are at work, driving or at home.
  • Encourage your children to play outdoor games instead of allowing them to play or watch cartoons on mobiles.
  • Keep away your phones and gadgets while you go to sleep.

Isolate yourself from the mobile world and attach yourself to the real world. Wake up to other joys of life and smell the refreshing blossom.
