What makes Akhilesh Yadav one of the most Influential Chief Minister of UP?

If we consider the political scenario of India, we find very few effective and influential leaders. The reason being, the majority of the political parties are still using the old ways of influencing the voters with caste based politics and we lack leaders with strong development agenda coupled with tough decision-making capabilities. To stay at par with the fast changing world, we cannot rely on politicians who have been using the traditional political games for their own benefits. But, there have been some leaders who have been successful to eliminate the stagnancy of the political borders and proved themselves as influential leaders focused on the development and a work-oriented approach.

Akhilesh Yadav, the Hon. Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, has been one of the most inspiring young leaders who has emerged in the Indian political landscape and given a ray of hope to the youngsters.

UP CM Akhilesh Yadav, became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, at the age of 38, the youngest CM in any state of India till date. He has proved his credibility and capability by fulfilling all the promises made during the last election in the past 4.5 years. These includes the distribution of free laptops to students, unemployment allowances, and regular monetary schemes etc for the economically weaker sections of the society. Another differentiating factor for the young leader has been his clean image and zero tolerance towards the criminal elements. Although his stance has been one of the reasons for a feud with some of the senior party leaders, UP CM Akhilesh Yadav has proved his toughness by taking strict actions whenever required. This clean, clear and straight approach certainly puts him in a different league of his own.

When it comes to development, forget about UP, no other CM in the country can match up to his level. Under his regime, various exemplary infrastructure projects have been undertaken and initiated, the major projects include Agra-Lucknow expressway, Lucknow Metro and Four-Lane highways connecting the 44 district headquarters. Other initiatives such as cycling tracks, cricket stadiums, promotion of tourism and film industry, tree plantation drives, has gained him a large following and a feeling of belongingness with the youth of the state. Universities, hospitals, and projects like the upcoming IT city in Lucknow have boosted the investment in the state and people have now started seeing UP in a good and positive light. All these things were never done by any past CM of Uttar Pradesh and even today, it becomes difficult to imagine any other person apart from UP CM Akhilesh Yadav to carry on these optimistic developments.

When it comes to the younger generations and people concerned about development using new-age technologies, UP CM Akhilesh Yadav has made a mark for himself, which is next to impossible for anyone else to achieve. With the digitization of various government departments, a host of useful apps for information and faster grievance redressal, instant assistance and help for emergency situations, UP CM has made the best optimal utilization of technology for the modernization of the state and benefit of the people. Although we usually hear the terms women safety and empowerment frequently in the political manifestos, it has been actually implemented in UP with schemes like 1090 Power Line and Samajwadi Pension Yojna. There have been instances where a single tweet to the official handles of Akhilesh Yadav and UP Government came to the rescue for a person in distress.

According to the Mood of the Nation (MOTN) Opinion Poll conducted nationwide by the India Today Group and Cicero, UP CM Akhilesh Yadav was ranked as the 2nd best Chief Minister across India. So, when we come to his comparison with the past CM's of the state, nobody stands even close to him for consideration. If we take into account the  upcoming assembly elections in 2017, the CM candidate of Congress is Sheila Dixit (78) while Mayawati (60) being the CM candidate for BSP. Considering the age of these leaders, UP CM  Akhilesh Yadav (43) definitely comes as a preferred choice for the young people due to his clean image of a youth icon and orientation towards development. The BSP head Mayawati, who has been the CM of UP in the past, still relies on the agenda of casteism while UP CM Akhilesh Yadav is known for his modern approach and activeness on all social media platforms to connect with people.

The UP CM Akhilesh Yadav has not only proved to be a successful young leader whose agenda is development and modernization but also displayed a strong political acumen. His ideology of "Work says it all" as mentioned by him in several interviews, displays his confidence of the several positive developments undertaken by him. Previously, Uttar Pradesh used to be in the news only for the wrong reasons and various controversies surrounding the CMs, but due to the efforts and personal character of UP CM Akhilesh Yadav, the perception of people is changing towards UP. While it becomes difficult to compare any existing and potential candidate with him for the position of the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, if we take into account the previous 19 chief ministers of UP, Akhilesh Yadav certainly emerges out as one of the best and most influential CMs till date.
