Things one should do after a Break Up

Break-ups are one of the toughest things that a person has to go through. It feels like the entire world has ended and you don’t know what to do with yourself anymore. The person who had become the most important one in your life is suddenly gone and you do not know how to deal with that. While break-ups are some of the darkest periods of everyone’s life, there are a few healthy ways to deal with them.

Remove all traces of your ex

You might think that having them on your Instagram or Snapchat isn’t going to cause any kind of harm. Hence you tend to keep them on certain social media platforms. However, every time that you post a picture or a story, you will be subconsciously thinking of them. You’ll be showing them how awesome your life is without them but by doing so you are giving them undue importance. Let go of the person completely, that’s the only way to move on.

Let your emotions out onto paper

After break-ups, we all tend to have a lot of emotions within us that we need to get rid of. While telling a friend is a way that most people deal with break-ups, in case the friend says something that we do not like it might mess up our emotions even more. The paper isn’t going to react in any way and will not judge you whatsoever. You can express your deepest and darkest feelings to the piece of paper and then just burn it or throw it away.

Exercise

Somehow exercise is the way for dealing with most of life’s problems. In the case of break-ups, they can be an excellent way of getting rid of your pent up anger. Let it be football, skipping, kick-boxing or lifting weights, all you need to do is imagine your ex at the receiving end and you will have an immense rush of adrenaline. Exercise also improves your mood and is a great way to spend some productive time alone from society.

Do not let ‘what if’ into your vocabulary

If you let them, ‘what ifs’ are going to be the end of you. It’s only natural to question and think about what went wrong in your relationship after it has ended. But no amounts of what ifs are going to change the current reality or make you feel better about yourself. All that they are going to do is  make you wonder about what could have been instead of dealing with what actually is.

Get a new hobby

Since your ex and you have ended things, you have a lot of free time that used  to be occupied by them. What do you do with that free time now? The best thing that you can do is to occupy that time with some new hobby or activity that you take up. This will keep your thoughts away from them and will also make sure that you enjoy this time instead of mourning over the past.
