The Good Bad Habits- Ironic, isn't it?

Who doesn't have bad habits? Leaving the some that we can avoid, we keep talking about getting rid of other habits. But did it ever occur to you that some of these habits can be a blessing in disguise? you read it right!

Every year we promise ourselves that this year we will definitely give that bad habit the flick, only to give into that habit again within a couple of hours .Well, the good news is that the so-called ‘bad’ habit may not actually be as bad as you think.

1. CHOCOLATES- good or bad?

"The oldest woman in the world on record, and only confirmed person ever to live more than 120 years, Jeanne Louise Calment, from Arles, France, lived for 122 years and 164 days (1875 - 1997). Another 3 years and she would have lived in the 19th, 20th, and 21st century. She used to eat 10 pounds of chocolate every month, all her life."
  • Chocolate has been praised for its antioxidant content.
  • Chocolate could lower our cholesterol levels and prevent memory decline.
The next time you eat a piece of chocolate, don't feel overly guilty about it. Despite its bad reputation for causing the gain in eight , there are a number of health benefits associated with this delicious sweet treat!

2. Yours Lovingly... COFFEE!

This may come as a surprise to many, but drinking coffee isn't baleful after all. But that doesn't mean we keep on gulping down mugs and mugs of the coffee whole day. Caffeine helps reduce the risk of kidney stones and gallstones. It also speeds up the rate of metabolism of an individual.

Research has also proven that 2-3 cups of our favorite beverage  a day can counter depression symptoms and diabetes due to old age. So, go ahead and make your taste buds smile by savoring that hot mug of coffee !

3. NO SHOWER... NO PROBLEM!

I wonder if you have a broad smile while reading this! But if you one among those who have a strong body odor then don't be happy . if you choose to skip your daily dip, do it on a day you aren't going out much, or doing anything that is physical. Of course, we need to shower regularly, since hygiene is very important. But on the other side, missing a shower is not a crime. Think about the water that is saved, thus helping the environment!

On the health side, daily shower and frequent washing of our body  robs our skin of precious natural oils that helps to keep our skin  hydrated. Excessive washing also prevents the skin of good bacteria that helps in keeping many diseases away.

4. SWEARING... are we?

It's not a big thing neither it is something to be ashamed of!... but studies suggest that in the appropriate situations it may actually be good. According to a study by the University of East Anglia, swearing at work could help employees cope with stress and maintain solidarity.

Apart from this, researchers at Keele University’s School of Psychology found that swearing can provide effective short-term relief from pain. At times swearing makes the conversation interesting and funny.

However, the study also tells that swearing should be uttered during crises only, because the higher the swearing frequency of a person was, the less pain relief they experienced.

5. Are you an "ANGRY" bird?

Right from our childhood we have been thought not be angry or lose our temper! We are always reminded  to be calm, smile and take a deep breath.

But research points out to the fact that losing your temper once in a while isn't a bad thing after all. This is required so that we don't bottle up our emotions to a point where it consumes us! Venting out our emotions sometimes helps in releasing stress, and is also found to reduce the risk of a heart attack!

6. DREAMING DELIGHT!

Many times we have been tapped on our backs  due to our daydreaming! However it's not just the kids, but almost everyone. Daydreaming is directly proportional to being lazy and wasting time. But a study done at the University of British Columbia reflected  that sometimes allowing your mind to wander about actually increases your potential to solve problems in a better way.

The reason being, while we daydream, the part of the brain that works toward problem-solving becomes more active.
But this doesn't mean that you doze off on your chair and become a day dreamer! It might create problems for you.

So! You might have a cute little smile on your face, thinking that , the few bad habits I have might not be that bad after all! But do remember that too much of anything is not good. Everything has a right time and a right place. If that's not kept in mind then these healthy bad habits might actually turn in "bad" habits!
