Movies that would make kickass TV shows

Our Bollywood films are known to take inspirations from Hollywood films. But what if we take that inspiration to a new level and adapt them into TV shows?

With the audience slowly accepting different concepts, they might as well accept a desi touch to some of our favourite Hollywood films and since our television is ruled by women, the films I’m mentioning have female characters we can all relate to.

1. Monster In Law

This Jennifer Lopez film has all the ingredients of a successful tv show. It’s a story of a girl competing with her fiancĂ©’s mother who doesn’t want her son to get married to the girl of his choice and thus uses as many schemes as she can to hamper the wedding.

The saas-bahu formula is as it is a hit and with the adaptation of this film, the audience will get some rib tickling moments between the two leading ladies.

2. Miss Congeniality

This Sandra Bullock starrer is about a tough FBI officer who is chosen to go undercover as a contestant in a beauty pageant to stop a group of terrorists from bombing the event.

If adapted into a TV show, the audience will get to see a hysterical journey of a not so typical girl getting a full makeover, discovering emotions she has never experienced. The show will be a fun ride of comedy, crime, and mystery.

3. Runaway Bride

A favourite of every Julia Roberts fan. It’s the story of a woman who is known for leaving the groom at the altar during a wedding, not once but thrice. A newspaper columnist writes about her and she in turn complaints about him and gets him fired.

It’ll be intriguing to see this in a TV show format as to how the woman eventually finds the love of her life in a man she truly loathes.

4. The Devil Wears Prada

This Meryl StreepAnne Hathaway much loved film is about a girl who wants to be a journalist but circumstances make her take up a completely different job of a second assistant to a ruthless, cruel executive of a fashion magazine.

A tv show with a story on these grounds would be an interesting watch. It will basically attract young women because of its relatability and the lesson attached to it i.e. there should be a balance between your personal and professional life.

5. One Fine Day

Not exactly a film everyone has heard of. This George Clooney and Michelle Pfeiffer starrer is a story of two single parents who are so involved in their respective lives that they don’t realise what they are missing until one day when they meet other through their kids. They unknowingly become dependent on each other and by the end, fall in love.

A Tv show with characters involving so much depth and two extremely adorable children will surely keep the audience hooked.

As I bring my list to an end, I’d like to mention that these films have the ability to make good shows only if they are made into a finite series and not never-ending sagas of television.
